Ziploc Bags Will Save (a.k.a. Rule) the World
About a year ago, I was waiting at the gate at RDU Airport to board my regular monthly flight to London. There was lady standing a couple of feet away from me with a large tote-bag that was overfilled with – you won’t believe it – Ziploc Bags. Boxes and boxes of them in every size. I felt an immediate connection with this stranger.
Of course my English mother-in-law had already explained to me that there was certainly no over-abundance of Ziploc Bags in England. It seems that stores only offer one size – the traditional “sandwich bag”. That’s it. No “gallon size” or “snack size”, and most definitely no “XL size” (which are giant enough to hold sweaters that you put away for the winter). No colors or different zip cord options.
Honestly, I don’t know how anyone could get by. And obviously this lady that I had encountered at the airport had come to America and experienced the omnipotence of Ziploc Bags and knew she couldn’t live another day without them either.
This past weekend I discovered yet another practical use for Ziploc Bags. At two years old, Jasmine still has difficulty walking with a plate of food without spilling the contents. Since I have always put Goldfish crackers, chips, and other snacks in Ziploc Bags for the car, I decided they were also appropriate for the house. Bingo! And it killed two birds with one stone because I didn’t have to wash a dish. I can’t believe I didn’t think of it before now.
Simple, I know, but sometimes it’s the small things that make me the happiest. And if you aren’t addicted to Ziploc Bags yet, be warned. You will be eventually.

Of course the question is, store brand or name brand. Does Yellow and Blue making Green make the difference. What’s with that Zipper like thing. If a Quart is a liquid measure, how come I can buy quart sized Zip Lock bags. Why are they called Zip Lock..some don’t even zip. These are the difficult questions I need answered.
