Changing the World One Email at a Time
Ryan Allis knows how to make money. Ryan Allis knows the importance of helping others with less money (and that’s a lot of people, by the way). And Ryan Allis knows how to network.
Sound negative? It’s not.
Ryan’s new book Zero to One Million: How I Built My Company to $1 Million in Sales . . . and How You Can, Too launched today and reviewers are raving about the 23-year-old author’s entrepreneurial skills, his appearance on “The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch“, his ability to secure multi-million dollar venture capital funding for his company iContact, and his dedication to philanthropic causes. I, too, commend Ryan for donating all the proceeds from his book to The Humanity Campaign. But from my marketing perspective, it isn’t the charitable donations that will put his book on the best seller’s list. It’s viral marketing.
My three things:
- Reach. Yesterday Ryan reached out to his newsletter subscribers, blog readers, Facebook friends, LinkedIn connections, and Outlook contacts to solicit support for pushing Zero to One Million to #1 on Amazon. Sound selfish? Not at all. It’s good marketing.
- Timing. Choosing a date for an event – including a book launch – is both an art and a science. A charity like The Humanity Campaign coupled with a launch on Super Tuesday should prove successful for Zero to One Million. Changing the world by changing the world around them is top of mind for every American today.
- Content. No matter how jealous you are that Ryan Allis was on his way to his first million before he dropped out of college, you know you want to know how. Okay, I concede that the book might look like just another get-rich-quick-guide to successful mid-life entrepreneurial executives driving around in their Lamborghinis. But I bet they, too, will buy copies for their teenagers following in their footsteps.
