About Us
Andy Richards retired from the British Army after 23 years of service and is now a writer, rugby coach, entrepreneur, and stay-at-home-dad. In 2004 he edited and published his father’s book Return to Aden (by Pete Richards). In 2011 he published his first novel, The Devil’s Wave, as an e-book. In 2008 he co-founded the Atlantic Coast Invitational Rugby Tournament for ACC colleges and universities. Currently he is the head rugby coach at Virginia Tech. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the Open University in the United Kingdom. Somehow he still finds time to fish.
Melissa Richards spent 16 years in corporate marketing and in October 2008 launched her own consulting business, iMarketingMix. In 2009 she accepted a position marketing academic excellence at Virginia Tech, relocating the family to Blacksburg, Virginia. She enjoys writing, reading and presenting on marketing best practices. This year she vows to finish the great American novel she’s been writing for several years. With a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia, she naturally adorns Cavalier blue and orange, but she says her new Hokie maroon scarf fits quite nicely. She is pursuing a Masters of Public Administration at Virginia Tech.
This year we will celebrate our wedding anniversary of ten years. We enjoy hiking, sailing, cooking, watching sports and spending time with our children. Together we have lived in Baltimore, Maryland; Annapolis, Maryland; Cary, North Carolina; and now Blacksburg, Virginia. We have two beautiful daughters together, and Andy has a teenage son who is a freshman in college. Our elder daughter has a genetic disorder so rare that it has not been named. We stand behind medical research and pray for small miracles daily. Our youngest daughter talks and walks enough to make up for her sister. We delight in all their differences as well as their similarities.
We hope you enjoy reading Role Reversal. Your comments are welcome and encouraged.
