About Us
Andy Richards retired from the British Army after 23 years of service and at the time the Role Reversal blog was launched he was a stay-at-home-dad. Now he is a work-from-home-dad, college rugby coach and writer. In 2004 he edited and published his father’s book Return to Aden (by Pete Richards). In 2008 he co-founded Little Computer Bugs offering computer enrichment classes for kids ages 2-7 based on a nationally-recognized software package and curriculum designed to meet the special requirements of early childhood learning. Also in 2008 he co-founded the Atlantic Coast Invitational Rugby Tournament for ACC colleges and universities. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the Open University in the United Kingdom. Somehow he still finds time to fish.
Melissa Richards spent 15 years in corporate marketing and in October 2008 launched her own consulting business, iMarketingMix. In 2009 she accepted a position marketing academic excellence at Virginia Tech, relocating the family to Blacksburg, Virginia. She enjoys writing, reading and presenting on marketing best practices. This year she vows to finish the great American novel she’s been writing for several years. With a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia, she naturally adorns Cavalier blue and orange, but she says her new Hokie maroon scarf fits quite nicely.
This year we will celebrate our wedding anniversary of seven years. Together we enjoy hiking, sailing, cooking, watching sports and spending time with our children. We have lived in Annapolis, Maryland; Cary, North Carolina; and now Blacksburg, Virginia. We have two beautiful daughters together and Andy has a teenage sson who lives in England and visits us twice yearly. Our elder daughter has a rare mitochondrial disease, for which there is no cure but there are small miracles daily.
We hope you enjoy reading Role Reversal. Your comments are welcome and encouraged.
