Why We Blog
When our youngest daughter was two years old, she always put her shoes on the wrong feet. Other parents told us that their children do as well. A common mistake, we suppose. But the funny thing we noticed is that this practice doesn’t actually hurt kids’ feet. She put the left shoe on the right foot, and the right shoe on the left foot, and proceeded to run around as normal.
This is a bit of a metaphor for our family, really. We live in a role reversal. Some parents’ dream (or so they say…) and other parents’ nightmares. People question whether kids will turn out “normal” (what does that mean anyway?) if their mother isn’t the primary caregiver.
In our family, mommy goes to work every morning and daddy stays home. He packs lunches, empties backpacks, drops off, picks up, and more. Left shoe on the right foot, right shoe on the left foot if you will. Some people think it’s strange. So we decided to launch this dueling blog to share our somewhat unique parenting story – from two perspectives.
And by the way, we think our shoes feel just fine.
